Pirates of the Caribbean

Yesterday i was watching one of my favorite movies, 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. I just love Johnny Depp's acting is the role. The way he acts always drunk is just too beautiful and enjoyable to watch. I watched the first part, one that i have seen several times before, but enjoy watching it every once in a while. Then I couldn't resist and watched the second part 'The Dead Man's Chest' even though i had to get up early today. It was a beautiful movie and i plan to watch the third part soon, perhaps even today.

There are some movies, you just love, some movies which are made and directed so beautifully that you can watch 'em over and over again. They  always remain fun and interesting. The essential ingredient for making such a movie, i believe, is creativity and detail. You need to deviate from the monotonous and stereotype scripts. But making a unique script and movie is not enough to make it evergreen, it needs to have detail. What you show should seem real, not in a literal sense obviously, otherwise star wars and all other sci-fi movies would never exist;). By real I mean, that the effects you put in to depict your mind, as far from reality that it may be, but the effects and planning should be so, that if we accept the virtual dreamworld you take us to, it should be complete.

Allow me to explain with an example. Hrithik Roshan claims his latest movie 'Guzaarish' to be one of his best movies ever. He says that the movie has a meaning and a very subtle definite meaning to it, but if you see the movie "The Prestige", you will realize what is actual magic, screenplay and most importantly DETAIL. Hrithik portrays a magician who gets injured while performing one of his tricks. A rival magician deliberately causes the accident which leaves him paralyzed for life. The rival being one of his best friends.

Now, if you see, 'The Prestige' you will clearly see that the original background story of 'Guzaarish' is based on it. Two friends, both budding magicians develop rivalry and how they get back at each other. how one injures the other in a magic trick. What i wish to point out here is, both movies had in the storyline of magic tricks. The Prestige was totally based on magic and did show a lot of good tricks, whereas, Guzaarish showed Hrithik flying in air and his disciple 'standing on a fan and making paper fly'; and all i could say was, "bah.. big deal".

I really hope Hrithik had seen The Prestige before accepting this movie and if he has, I'm sure he prays people don't see it.

Anyway, some movies are good some movies are OK and some are even pathetic, but there are only a few which are timeless and evergreen. Big example, Shawshank Redemption. I watch it every time i don't have anything to watch. Try it out guys, also see The Prestige.

Signing Off..
